Tomaz Hipólito opens the 2015 exhibition program of Project Travessa da Ermida. This artist's practice moves itself in different kinds of spaces. The singularities of these same spaces are the ones stimulating Tomaz Hipólito and inspiring his creation. Thrilled about experimentation and action response to different scenarios.
Spaces drawn by Man are ruled by metrics of occupation and usage. The research for this project at Travessa da Ermida is an incorporated part of it and follows the project 2011 rebuild_00 presented at Emily Harvey Foundation in NY and 2013 rebuild_01 at Galeria Baginski in Lisbon. 2015 rebuild_02 at Travessa da Ermida will open with a performance, as well as the presentation inside Ermida of part of the process, revealed through photography and drawing.
After the opening, and as a result of the performance, it will remain in Ermida the memory of the performative gesture represented by an installation, that in its turn and together with the research material compose the physical artwork, the artistic object. The edited book, within this project, details the process and presents an interview to the artist by the curator João Silvério. This edition, with a customized action in each exemplar, reinforces the importance of the artistic object singularity to Tomaz Hipólito.
