Não restam dúvidas de que o estado de “embriaguez” é um conceito antigo e importante nas artes e na literatura. Embriaguez e arte estão intimamente ligadas. Todavia, será a embriaguez verdadeiramente uma categoria da estética contemporânea? O seminário procura abordar esta questão complexa, através de uma leitura atenta da obra Die Geburt der Tragödie (O Nascimento da Tragédia, 1872) de Friedrich Nietzsche e da análise dos seus conceitos de apolíneo e de dionisíaco.

Arne Zerbst (n. 1971) estudou Filosofia, História da Arte e Literatura Alemã. Depois de ter exercido a posição de investigador na Braunschweig University of Art (HBK)   e na Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (Munique), em 2014 foi nomeado reitor da Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design (Kiel).

No question, intoxication is an old and big theme in arts and literature. Intoxication and art are belonging together. But is intoxication really a category of contemporary aesthetics? The seminar tries to offer an approach to this complex question. We will have a close reading of ‘The Birth of Tragedy’ (1872) by Friedrich Nietzsche and analyse his concepts of the Apollonian and Dionysian. 

Arne Zerbst (born 1971) studied Philosophy, Art History and German Literature. After research positions at the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK) and the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (Munique), he has been Dean of the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design (Kiel) since 2014.
