From 15h to 19hIn the vast, dry lands of Rajasthan, water is a precious resource that is difficult to access. It is the women who take on the role of walking miles between their homes and the community wells every day to provide water for their families. A task that we might have thought was completely lost in the face of progress, but which is gaining a new strength. The recent worsening of the water crisis, caused by climate change and pollution, is forcing several villages to return to this tradition.
Motivated by these issues, but avoiding a moralistic approach, the film tells a story in three acts: first, the birth of a pot, a fundamental object for collecting and reserving water; second, the continuous task of the woman, portrayed through dance, in a choreography that navigates between the real and the dream, and the eternal return to reality; third, liberation, through the final plunge into the River Ganges which, according to Hinduism, can free the soul from the cycle of 'birth, death, rebirth'.
In the coming months, the film will be submitted to festivals. However, we now propose to talk about it in the form of an exhibition, communicating through images, videos, sound and objects, which tell us the same or some other story.
On the 13th, at 7.30pm, we have a Bollywood dance workshop, run by Megha Shekhawat.
