Bio notes:
Katie Ryan is a visual artist and arts facilitator based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. Born in Ireland, she has been living and working in Australia, since 2013. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Art (2016) and Fine Art Honours (2017) at the Victorian College of the Arts (Melbourne University).
Katie has a studio-based practice specialising in sculpture and installation. She works through a combination of theoretical research and intuitive experimentation with materials. Her practice interrogates knowledge systems and structures of reasoning, considering the body as a site from which to extrapolate ideas relating to individualism, value and power. Her current work investigates duplicity and performativity through the motif of the smile.
Her most recent solo exhibitions include ‘The roles are a drag’ (2023) at Working at Heights and ‘Dissecting a violin body’ (2019) at Bus Projects.
Noam Noy (b. 1990, Tel-Aviv) is a multidisciplinary creator who lives and works in Tel-Aviv. She holds a BA in visual communications from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design (2016) and an M.Des In Multidisciplinary Design from Shenkar Academy (2022).
Noy's theoretical and research-based practices include combining strategies of graphic design and visual arts. She employs print and digital mediums as tools for investigating human behaviour, both in commissioned work and autonomous projects.
Noy seeks to re-examine the common balance between creator and spectator/user/consumer, by questioning the classical hierarchical relationship through platforms suited for open dialogue.
Through her multi-disciplinary work, she aims to investigate the ways through which visual surroundings direct people's choices and actions, while trying to undermine these principles, to facilitate agency and to provide a critical outlook on conventional thinking.
