FINISSAGE | Conversation with Nina Fraser For the closing event of the solo exhibition 'Sublime', Nina Fraser will open up a dialogue surrounding her latest exhibition at MUTE with artist Jayne Dyer. The conversation will be held in English, and questions are welcomed. -------------------------------------------------------------- Nina Fraser (St. Albans, Hertfordshire, UK, 1984) gained a first class degree hons BA Textile Art at Winchester College of Art, Hampshire, UK in 2006. It was from this material investigation that she eventually found herself working with paper. Using predominantly collage as a technique to deconstruct and disrupt, landscape is re-imagined into dislocated scenes. She often allows the source of the found object (magazine etc) to dictate the shape and form of the work, from two dimensional collage and painting to three dimensional sculpture and site specific installation. She emigrated to Portugal in 2014, becoming a resident artist at MArt Artist Studios in Lisbon from 2015 – 2017. She has exhibited in collective and solo exhibitions in UK, Portugal, Berlin, Australia, Poland, Slovenia and USA. Her collage work has been selected for publication in USA, ltaly, UK, Spain and Portugal. -------------------------------------------------------------- Australian artist Jayne Dyers practice is interdisciplinary and socially engaged, addressing identity and otherness, in reference to what we culturally and socially value. Exhibitions for 2019 include Adaption & Transition, Bienal do Fotografia, Porto, Portugal. Dyer has also received the inaugural Individual Artist Award from the Australian Federal Government for arts achievements in Asia (2013) for her expansive work The Butterfly Effect. She lives and works between Lisbon and Australia and China and has a studio residence at Hangar.
