EU SOU OUTRA PESSOA de Hilda Reis + Art & Craft Refúgio

|PT| Celebrar os 50 anos do 25 de abril é recordar o momento histórico em que Portugal se libertou de um regime autoritário, e abriu caminho para a democracia, para a liberdade e para os direitos humanos.
Neste contexto, a Apaixonarte recebe a exposição EU SOU OUTRA PESSOA, de Hilda Reis com o coletivo de artistas e artesãos, o Art & Craft Refúgio, que representa um símbolo contemporâneo dessa liberdade. 
Vozes de diversas origens, de migrantes e de refugiados(as), têm, aqui, espaço para se expressar artisticamente e contribuir para a construção de uma sociedade inclusiva. 
“Estraguem as fotos bonitas!” Esta foi a frase que a artista Hilda Reis, repetiu uma e outra vez na
primeira sessão de Art & Craft de 2024, no projecto Residências Refúgio, do LARGO Residências.
De tesoura em mão, os participantes começaram a cumprir atentamente a indicação e fotos antigas,
talhadas, despertaram para uma nova vida. 
É uma tarefa complexa. Construir uma história por cima da história, que as fotos contam. Apropriar,
transformar, transgredir. Começar algo novo, mas não do nada. As memórias de outros tempos
ganham, pouco a pouco, novas vidas. O preto e branco ganha cor, a cor ganha vida. São bailarinas,
casamentos, trabalhadores, fotos de família, de bebés e de noivados. Todos os momentos que para
alguém foram importantes, agora são conteúdo para a criação artística. 
A exposição EU SOU OUTRA PESSOA é uma experiência coletiva que valoriza o caminho que cada
um(a) quer seguir. Colagens com fotografias, cartas, documentos, tintas e vernizes, celebram os
valores de Abril, através das mãos de uma comunidade intercultural que ultrapassa fronteiras e
estereótipos. 
|EN| To celebrate the 50th anniversary of April 25 is to remember the historic moment when Portugal freed
itself from an authoritarian regime and paved the way for democracy, freedom and human rights.
In this context, Apaixonarte is hosting the exhibition EU SOU OUTRA PESSOA, by Hilda Reis with the
collective of artists and craftspeople, Art & Craft Refúgio, who represent a contemporary symbol of
this freedom. 
Voices from different backgrounds, migrants and refugees, have space here to express themselves
artistically and contribute to building an inclusive society. 
“Ruin the pretty pictures!” This was the phrase that artist Hilda Reis repeated over and over again
during the first Art & Craft session of 2024 at Residências Refúgio project by LARGO Residências.
Scissors in hand, the participants began to carefully follow the instructions and old photos, carved up,
awoke to a new life. 
It’s a complex task. Building a story on top of the story the photos tell. Appropriating, transforming,
transgressing. Start something new, but not from scratch. Memories of other times gradually gain new
life. Black and white becomes color, color becomes life. There are ballerinas, weddings, workers,
family photos, baby photos and engagement photos. All the moments that were important to
someone are now content for artistic creation. 
The exhibition EU SOU OUTRA PESSOA is a collective experience that values the path that each
person wants to follow. Collages with photographs, letters, documents, paints and varnishes celebrate
the values of April through the hands of an intercultural community that transcends borders and
stereotypes.
