MORE on the SERIES | PARALLAX
The term “parallax” refers to the way an object’s position or direction seems to change depending on its viewing angle. This apparent displacement has been used in distinct domains of knowledge such as astrology, philosophy, linguistic to web design, as well as psychoanalysis and photography.

In “PARALLAX”, Aires de Gameiro reveals his quest for the objects’ inner strength and visual esthetics. By rearranging processes, the Artist creates a set of pictorial and tridimensional works in a mutual reflection: the genesis of one is the essence of the other. In this expanded field, the Artist materializes the intersecting zone of contours and volumes. The presented abstract paintings carry an illusion of space behind the literal plane; intimately related with the sculptures as spatial expansions. Aires de Gameiro presents a sharp and precise exhibition, in which compositional relations empower sensory experiences on the beholder.

| MORE on AIRES DE GAMEIRO
The expressive weight of Aires de Gameiro’s art is carried by apprehending sensory experiences of spatial domains. Born in 1989, Lisbon, Aires de Gameiro meticulously experienced crafting techniques since an early age. Raised in a carpentry household introduced him to capture accurate perceptions of matter and forms. Aires de Gameiro graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and studied Painting at the Fine Arts Academy of Venice (Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia). His works muster pictorial and sculptural expressions, tensioning the perception of reality.

GENERAL OUTLINE | Le Jardin des songes
• Artist: Skoya Assemat-Tessandier
• Series: ‘Sleeping Beauties’
• Medium: Acrylic on canvas
• Year: 2014/2015

DATES & INFORMATIONS | Le Jardin des songes
• From June 2nd until July 23rd 2017
• Open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 3pm-7pm or by appointment throughout the rest of the week.

MORE on the SERIES | Le Jardin des songes
A bucolic aura takes place at The Switch: Skoya Assémat-Tessandier’s new exhibition presents a series of paintings involved with a sublime atmosphere. From 2nd of June until 23rd of July, visitors of “Le Jardin des songes” can explore a scenario built in the gallery, evoking an oneiric experience leading beyond rational mind’s constraints.
The set of 11 paintings was started in 2014, emanated from a very passionate momentum in the Artist’s life. Feeling the latent connection with the Romanticism, a tradition’s revival helped Skoya to embody vivid affections in his works. The resultant series brings elements of Impressionism, Fauvism and Pointillism, with a hidden dialogue between tradition and contemporary art themes. Each composition is raised from a vibrant dotted basis, in which abstraction gains life from the representation of the Artist’s muses – a Baroque heritage. Nevertheless, the exhibition requires an effort that stretches beyond visual enjoyment of classical techniques.
Reveries and illusions also play a role in “Le Jardin des songes”, referencing the romantic belief of adopting dreams as an alternative route to the innermost secrets. With Sigmund Freud’s writings, Artists intensely explored the idea of a subconscious mind as a source of inspiration, forging the depiction of their subjective experiences. Skoya’s paintings trigger color perceptions, like hypnotic trances. In this ritual of transcendence, his inspirational muses dance, pose, rest, and gently doze. Dreams, to the Artist, represent conduits for unspoken feelings and desires, royal roads to knowledge of the unconscious.

| MORE on SKOYA
Skoya Assémat-Tessandier’s career can be best comprehended by the ever-present touch of alchemy. His work reflects states of subconsciousness, translated across multiple disciplines such as painting, photography and performance. Since early 2000’s, Skoya devoted himself to create personal techniques, in which intricate textures overflow. His Art embodies “dreams and poems, feelings of love and rage, seasons and celestial bodies, and far beyond”, as he states.
Born and raised in Paris, he has lived in many different cities since then: this nomadic life has shaped his artistic influences and repertoire. Works conceived worldwide were presented in New York, Tokyo, Amsterdam and Paris.
Currently living and working in Lisbon, where he opened The Switch in November 2016.
