The Healthy Vegan Kitchen Weekend Workshop April 22nd and 23rd (arrival between 15:00 and 21:00 on the 21th) with Júlia Dénes and Török Gábor Give thanks to the Mother Earth. Give thanks to the Father Sun. Give thanks to the plants in the garden, Where the Mother and Father are One. > Why vegan? There are severals journeys one might take to become vegan. Some change to a wholesome, plant based diet once they learnt about its health benefits. Others are concerned about taking lives and about industrial animal farming, and are willing to take an active role in making the world a cruelty free, safe environment for both humans and animals. And there may also be people who are looking for ways to be more conscious about what they eat and how they live, and eventually decide to give being vegan a try. We believe that nutrition rich, whole food is one of the most important building blocks of a healthy, balanced life. Food is our natural medicine. It nourishes both the body and mind. We prepare food with love. In our view, a healthy, peaceful diet is plant based and consists of ingredients that are produced, as much as possible, locally and in natural farming, in a cruelty free and sustainable way. We will find peace if we act in a way, including our eating choices, that respects Mother Earth and other living beings. > Why could this be for you? This 2-day vegan cooking workshop is for people who • want to reflect on their current eating habits and lifestyle and want to understand what makes a healthy diet healthy • are interested in switching to a plant based diet and would appreciate help to take the first steps • are mostly or already vegan but intent to deepen their knowledge about nutritions, and the ethical and sustainability considerations of the vegan lifestyle • simply want to learn a few more recipes of delicious, healthy dishes prepared with love > The workshop includes 5 sessions. They provide vegan lunches and dinners for the community and for the events of O Fojo on a regular basis. Júlia Dénes Julia started cooking already in her teens but 2014 was a turning point in her life when she changed from citylife and immersed in the rural lifestyle in Portugal and Spain. This change brought her close to nature not only physically but also in the way of thinking and in her actions also. A basic and therefore important part of it is the food we eat. The love of simplicity, natural and the respect towards Mother Earth and other living beings became to be the building stone of her eating and cooking habits. In the kitchen she prepares pure and natural meals which are nutritious and help sustaining health or restore it when needed. She especially likes the sweet taste and therefore sweet foods. As a result she gained knowledge and experience about sugarfree yet delicious desserts. Over the years of experiencing and studying it turned to something more and deeper in meaning than just preparing some delicious vegan and sugarfree meals. This is now something to share with those who are open for change and/or learn more in this topic. Managing a vegan and sugarfree lifestyle can be very challenging in many fields especially at the beginning. By now she learnt and found the ways of sustaining this lifestyle easily and harmoniously with my surrounding and feel personally responsible to share this knowledge and experiences with the people who want to change to a healthier and more natural diet and lifestyle. She believes it is our responsibility to respect and protect Mother Earth and the other living beings. Török Gábor Török has been cooking food for more than 10 years and he keeps looking for ways to share his love through food with others. He became vegetarian 6 years ago as an experiment. He wanted to understand how to cook delicious meals for his vegetarian friends without using meat. Since then he has become continuously more conscious about what he eats, how it impacts his health, and how food gets to his table. He decided to choose a vegan life style 3 years ago to enjoy the benefits of a plant based diet and also to practice the choice of living a life that is less violent and respects other beings. Torok approaches life through the lenses of ahimsa and sustainability. Currently he lives in a permaculture farm and community and he is in the process of adjusting his diet to be based on mostly locally available, natural farming products. > How to make my inscription?
