Formada em 1985, rapidamente lançaram o seu primeiro LP, ‘If two worlds kiss’, exprimindo uma sonoridade que faz lembrar a new wave, com a utilização de apontamentos dark e de sintetizadores, tornando-se assim uma das bandas pioneiras no desenvolvimento do sub-género dark wave. Originalmente a banda era um duo composto por Thomas Elbern (voz e guitarra), Mic Jogwer (voz, baixo, teclados) e uma caixa de ritmos. Tinham como inspiração as clássicas bandas de new wave, tais como os The Cure e The Sound nos seus primeiros tempos. No princípio de 1986, a banda cresceu e passou a incluir o baterista Markus Giltjes e mais tarde Reinhold Walter, que tomou conta dos teclados. Em outubro de 1987, os Pink Turns Blue lançaram o álbum de estreia ‘Two worlds kiss’ pouco depois de Thomas Elbern ter deixado a banda para formar os Escape with Romeo. Após o lançamento dos dois álbuns seguintes, ‘Eremite’ and ‘Aerdt’, que levou a banda por novos caminhos com canções mais experimentais e atonais, e a mudança para Londres, o muito popular chamado movimento de Manchester, inspirou a banda a enveredar por uma mudança radical de sonoridade. Em 1995 a banda terminou. No início de 2003, o organizador do Wave-Gotik-Treffen de Leipzig pediu um concerto por “encomendaˮ e a banda atuou no evento em junho desse ano. A resposta do público foi de tal forma entusiástica que decidiram seriamente reavivar a banda. Um novo álbum de estúdio, ‘Phoenix’, foi lançado em abril de 2005, seguido de outros dois álbums de estúdio, ‘Ghost’ e ‘Storm’, em 2007 e 2009. As músicas sombrias e melancólicas marcaram um regresso ao conceito e sonoridade originais da banda, tendo sido recebidas positivamente, e de forma unânime, pela imprensa musical e pelos fãs. O seu último álbum, lançado o ano passado, chama-se ‘The AERDT – Untold Stories’. Como no princípio, 3 elementos (voz/guitarra, baixo/teclados, bateria), reduzidos assim ao claro, intenso e emocionante post punk no seu melhor. Sempre registado de forma intensa, íntima, real e vibrante. Realização, produção e acabamento, tudo feito pela banda, como nos primeiros tempos. Simultaneamente, mantiveram-se fiéis aos seus pontos fortes e às suas originalidades: vozes comoventes e sentidas, guitarras atmosféricas, baixos e bateria, essenciais e fundamentais na roupagem das músicas. A atual formação conta com Mic Jogwer, Ruebi Walter e Paul Richter. *** She Pleasures Herself SPHS é um trio lisboeta formado em 2016. A banda é constituída por David Wolf (Uni_form/ When The Angels Breathe/ Sweet Nico), produdor, sintetizadores e guitarras, Nuno Francisco (Uni_form/Alma Mater Society), na bateria e programação, e Nuno Varudo (Persona Project/The Paper Road), como vocalista e baixista. É difícil enquadrar a música dos SPHS num único género ou sonoridade. A sua inspiração deriva de muitas bandas como: Bauhaus, Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy, etc. A banda funde as suas influências com uma permanente sonoridade eletrónica (sintetizadores e caixa de ritmos) num estilo que pode ser catalogado mais corretamente sob o termo "darkwave". Formed in 1985, they quickly put out their first LP, ‘If Two Worlds Kiss’ expressing a sound reminiscent of new wave with very dark undertones and use of synthesizers, only to become one of the pioneers of the developing sub-genre of dark wave. The band was originally a duo consisting of Thomas Elbern (vocals and guitar), Mic Jogwer (vocals, bass, keyboards) and a rhythm machine. The band was inspired by classic new wave groups such as the early The Cure, and The Sound, In early 1986 the band was expanded to include the drummer Markus Giltjes and later on Reinhold Walter, who took over the keyboards. In October 1987, Pink Turns Blue released their debut album ‘Two Worlds Kiss’ soon after Thomas Elbern had left the band to form Escape With Romeo. Following the release of the next two albums, ‘Eremite’ and ‘Aerdt’, which moved the band along new paths with experimental and atonal songs, and moving to London, the very popular so-called Manchester scene inspired the band to a radical change of direction. The gloomy melancholic song material marked a return to the original sound and concept of the band and was unanimously received positively by the music press and fans.
