É com bastante expectativa que aguardamos este regresso a terras lusas, desta vez inserido na tour que celebra 10 anos de existência. Como banda de culto que é, as musicas Rome não são fáceis de catalogar. Jérôme Reuter, luxemburguês e líder da banda desde a sua origem em 2005, classifica as suas letras como uma “poetry of longing”, mas esta saudade que fala está envolta, não só numa melancolia mas também numa resistência, fortemente politizada. Podem ser herdeiras de vultos da literatura como Genet ou Camus, mas já vincaram o seu lugar com uma ética muito própria: a de Jérôme. Tal como as letras, também a musica se desprende duma só catalogação: vão do acústico intimista à instrumentalização épica, passando pelo dark ambient, neofolk, martial industrial ou cold wave. Esperamos assim, um concerto único e intenso revisitando os 8 álbuns de carreira. Só Rome decerto nos encheria a alma, mas queremos mais. Assim, convidámos para a primeira parte, uma banda maior do nosso panorama musical: A Jigsaw! A Jigsaw nasceu em 2004, fruto de três conimbricenses e uma musica de dEUS: Jigsaw you. Muitas são as comparações que lhes fazem, desde Tindersticks a Leonard Cohen, mas há algo que os distingue das referências: a multi-instrumentalização das suas musicas. Temos guitarra e teclado, mas também podemos ter harmónica, bombo, violino, violino, contrabaixo, bateria ou até castanholas, dependendo dos convidados de Jorri e João Rui em estúdio e ao vivo. Atravessando tudo isto, a voz grave e solene de João Rui. Sendo que esta banda dedica cada álbum a um conceito, com este último “No true magic” esperamos uma deambulação em torno da suspensão da mortalidade, ou seja, a aceitação da mesma aliviada pela musica. We are looking forward for their return to Portugal, this time with the tour celebrating their 10th anniversary. As a cult band, Rome’s music isn’t easy to pinpoint. Jérôme Reuter, who is from Luxembourg and the leader of the band since the beginning in 2005, classifies their lyrics as “poetry of longing”, but this longing is surrounded not only by melancholy, but also by a strongly politicized resistance. They may be heirs to major names of literature, such as Genet or Camus, but they have marked their place with a set of ethics of their own: Jerôme’s. Therefore, for the first part of the event, we have invited a great band of our musical scene: A Jigsaw! A Jigsaw was born in 2004, the “child” of three guys from Coimbra and a dEUS song: Jigsaw you. Many are the comparisons made, from Tindersticks to Leonard Cohen, but there’s something that sets them apart from these references: the multi-instrumentalisation of their music. We have guitar and keyboards, but we can also have harmonics, bass drum, violin, double bass, drums or even castanets, depending on the studio or live guests of Jorri e João Rui.
