No dia 26 de Fevereiro às 19 horas, a Zaratan - Arte Contemporânea convida para a inauguração de Foda-se, uma exposição individual de António Caramelo. Durante a finissage de dia 5 de Março, o artista apresenta makearevolution*, uma performance sonora erudita que se inscreve dentro da linha de colecção de objectos de luxo de desobediência civil para a burguesia (+ info: http://www.makearevolution.org). A exposição relaciona-se com um determinado posicionamento ideológico na questão da manifestações do poder e a sua cristalização como forma de lugar, onde as imagens e as não-imagens habitam o tempo suspenso do seu movimento por entre os suportes físicos que as acolhem. Pode-se definir esse tempo como um intervalo, uma suspensão do movimento do tempo a desenrolar-se no seu fluxo contínuo, sem que, contudo, o olhar o alcance ou consiga captar. As imagens pertencem ao seu próprio lugar e esse lugar está sempre em hesitação constante entre a existência e o seu aniquilamento. De certa forma, as imagens ficam, durante este processo, com uma existência partilhada dependente da era temporal durante a qual o seu objecto se mostra e se esconde em potência. Não implicam nenhuma particularidade ou nenhuma propriedade, para além da capacidade de serem acolhidas pelos corpos ou suportes e a eles se conformar. Neste ponto, os enunciados não estão nas palavras e a visibilidade não está nas coisas. A visibilidade não é imediatamente visível. Inclusive, é invisível enquanto se limita às próprias qualidades sensíveis dos objectos que a acolhem, os seus dispositivos. Não importa se o seu fim (a aparição e a desaparição) está próximo ou longe: não há mais fim visado, mas apenas - e é o que importa - uma realização simultânea através da profanação do seu uso. BIO António Caramelo nasceu em Angola no Année érotique (segundo a canção de Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg) numa altura em que não existia nem kizomba nem kuduro, só Merengue. Fez Belas Artes em Lisboa (Escultura) e um master em arte e comunicação interactiva em Barcelona, master esse que não é bem reconhecido em Espanha. Actualmente dá aulas e desiludido com os sistemas de ensino, pondera aceitar trabalho como bartender no México. Expõe regularmente desde 1999, data coincidente com a saída da lua da órbita terrestre (ver a série TV “Espaço 1999”). ENGLISH VERSION On the 26th of February at 7 pm, Zaratan – Arte Contemporânea invites for the opening of Foda-se, a solo show by António Caramelo. On the 5th of March, during the finissage, the artist presents makearevolution *, an erudite sound performance which is part of a luxury collection of objects for the civil disobedience of the bourgeoisie (+ info: http://www.makearevolution.org). The exhibition "Foda-s"e relates to a particular ideological position on the issue of the power manifestations and its crystallization in a place, where the images and non-images inhabit the suspended time of their movement through the physical media hosting them. This time can be can be defined as a lapse, like a suspension of the movement of time that develops into its continuous flow, while the eye is unable to rich or capture it. The images belong to their own place and that place is always in constant hesitation between existence and annihilation. In a way, during this process, the images live a shared existence that is dependent from the time era during which their objects show or hide themselves. They do not imply any special feature or any property, in addition to the ability to be embrace by the bodies or supports and to fit to them. At this point, the statements are not in the words and the visibility is not in the things. Visibility is not immediately visible. Moreover, it is invisible while confined to the sensible qualities of the objects that host them, the devices. No matter if the purpose (the appearance and disappearance) is near or far: there is no more visible purpose, but only - and it is what matters - a simultaneous realization through the desecration of their use. BIO António Caramelo was born in Angola during the Année érotique (according to a song by Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg) a time when it didn´t even existed kizomba or kuduro, only Merengue. He studied Fine Arts in Lisbon (Sculpture) and he attended a master in art and interactive communication in Barcelona, a master that is not even recognized in Spain. Currently he teaches and as he is disappointed with the education systems, he ponders to work as a bartender in Mexico. He exhibited regularly since 1999, the date coinciding with the departure of the moon from the Earth's orbit (see: TV show “Space1999”). Com este evento, a Zaratan termina este primeiro ciclo trimestral (Dezembro - Fevereiro) de exposições individuais, que alicerça um conjunto de 12 artistas portugueses e emergentes sediados em Lisboa, com o propósito de operar uma mostra significativa do seu trabalho. Desde a escultura ao desenho, da vídeo-instalação à performance, o que aqui realmente interessa é explorar a arte experimental e abraçar desde logo uma atitude interdisciplinar e multimédia, que reflicta a variedade e a quantidade de materiais e linguagens disponíveis para o artista hoje em dia. A Zaratan – Arte Contemporânea é um espaço sem fins lucrativos gerido por artistas, que pretende promover uma mais profunda compreensão das práticas artísticas contemporâneas. From sculpture or drawings, to video-installations or performances, what is relevant for us is to explore experimental art and to embrace since the beginning of this gallery an inter-disciplinary and multimedia attitude, that reflects the variety of materials and languages available to the artist nowadays. Zaratan – Arte Contemporânea is a not-for-profit space run by artists, which aims to promote a deeper comprehension of contemporary art practices.
