Temos o prazer de apresentar "The Thing’s You’ve Missed", uma exposição relâmpago de Denni Waterhouse, que apresenta o trabalho desenvolvido durante o primeiro mês de residência com Zaratan.
Denni transcendeu das suas técnicas habituais, passando da precisão do desenho a lápis e esferográfica, com hachuras cruzadas que conferem profundidade às suas obras, para a atmosfera nebulosa das gravuras em água-forte. Essa exploração a leva a encontrar novas formas de capturar os pequenos instantes da vida quotidiana. Imersa numa nova rotina, num país diferente e rodeada por outras culturas, a artista encontra-se a questionar quais momentos são mais importantes: os do passado, os do presente ou aqueles que ainda estão por vir? Ideias que pretende desenvolver ao longo de sua residência na Zaratan, que se estenderá até o final de setembro.BIO: DENNI WATERHOUSE é um artista de Grimsby, Inglaterra. Formou-se na Camberwell College of Arts depois de estudar BA Fine Art: Drawing. O seu trabalho explora a expansão de momentos diários “insignificantes” que tendemos a ignorar. Denni recria experiências anteriores utilizando uma intrincada técnica de hachura cruzada, levando à inspeção minuciosa e à reavaliação do quotidiano. Através da recriação de momentos ‘menores’ que todos vivemos, Denni pretende transmitir o quão significativos são esses momentos em relação às pessoas que já não estão connosco. Estes momentos não devem ser negligenciados ou devemos valorizá-los tanto quanto valorizamos os momentos que consideramos significativos. Quando as pessoas já não estão cá, sentimos falta dos momentos que tendemos a desconsiderar. A criação de uma obra sobre um momento insignificante reforça a permanência, obriga a examiná-lo, e quase que permite revivê-lo e apreciá-lo.

We are glad to present The Thing’s You’ve Missed, a flash exhibition by Denni Waterhouse, who is showcasing the work developed through the first month of residency with Zaratan.
Denni has pushed beyond her usual methods of working. Going from creating states of realism using crosshatching, biro and paper, to creating hazed, crosshatched etching prints. Through exploration the artist is finding more ways to depict small moments of daily life. Also being exposed to a new daily life in a different country and surrounded by other cultures, she is currently undergoing decisions of which moments are more important, those that have previously happened or the ones that we are experiencing in the present. All ideas that she aims to expand upon throughout the duration of her residency at Zaratan, that will last until the end of September.BIO: DENNI WATERHOUSE is an artist from Grimsby, England. She is a graduate from Camberwell College of Arts after studying BA Fine Art: Drawing. Her work explores the expansion of ‘insignificant’ daily moments that we tend to overlook. Denni recreates former experiences using an intricate cross-hatching technique, leading to the close inspection and revaluation of the everyday. Through the recreation of ‘minor’ moments we all experience, Denni aims to convey how significant these moments are in relation to people who are no longer with us. Should these moments be over-looked or should we treasure these moments as much as we do the moments we deem significant. When people are no longer here, they miss the moments we tend to disregard. She believes the permanency of creating a work of an insignificant moment, and making herself examine it, is almost allowing her to relive and appreciate it.
