[scroll down for English] FORTIFIED INFINITY, exposição de Wolfgang Wirth e Avessa, projecto de Rita Gaspar Vieira Inauguração: 12 de Abril | 19h00 Exposição: 13.04 - 31.05.2018 Temos muito gosto em anunciar FORTIFIED INFINITY, a segunda exposição individual do artista austríaco Wolfgang Wirth na Galeria Belo-Galsterer. Inspirado num conjunto de antigas gravuras portuguesas de fortalezas portuguesas do séc. XVII, Wirth desenvolveu todo um conjunto de declinações formais em vários media: encontramos nesta exposição desenho, serigrafia, esculturas e, em último caso, podemos ver toda esta exposição como um instalação. A fortaleza como um modelo simbólico que convida a uma discussão em torno de dicotomias como infinito vs. finito, cosmos vs. terra, beleza vs. violência, dentro vs. fora, inclusão vs. exclusão. Wolfgang Wirth nasceu 1966 em Innsbruck, Áustria. Vive e trabalha em Viena de Áustria. Estudou na Universidade de Salzburg, Áustria. O seu médium predileto é a pintura. Entretanto, nos últimos anos Wolfgang Wirth tem vindo a trabalhar também realizou exposições nos países mais variados, da Europa (Alemanha, Áustria, Espanha, Países Baixos e Polónia) aos Estados Unidos da América. Esta exposição tem o apoio da Embaixada da Áustria em Lisboa. _____________________ A artista portuguesa Rita Gaspar Vieira apresenta pela primeira vez o seu trabalho na Galeria Belo-Galsterer. Avessa é um projecto composto por um conjunto de objectos que formam uma instalação pensada especificamente para o espaço da galeria. Um dos objectos, foi mais precisamente, feito a partir de partes de um móvel de cozinha que constituem uma escultura e formam a peça central deste projecto expositivo; obras em papel complementam a peça central e a própria instalação – todas as peças juntas são partes de um todo. Parte deste projecto expositivo é também uma edição de artista. Rita Gaspar Vieira nasceu 1976 em Leiria. Vive e trabalha entre Lisboa e Leiria. Rita Gaspar Vieira é licenciada em Artes Plásticas/Pintura, Mestre em Teorias da Arte e Doutorada em Belas-Artes na especialidade de Desenho, pela FBAUL, Lisboa. Expõe regularmente no âmbito nacional, destacando aqui as mais recentes exposições individuais: Symposium, Appleton Square, Lisboa (curadoria de Sérgio Fazenda Rodrigues) (2018); Voyage autour de ma chambre – Projeto Q22, Colégio das Artes, Coimbra (2016); Marca D’Água #1 - Empty Cube (curadoria de João Silvério) (2014). O seu trabalho está representado em coleções institucionais como a Coleção PLMJ, e Câmara Municipal de Leiria e ainda em várias coleções privadas. __________________________________________________________ FORTIFIED INFINITY, by Wolfgang Wirth and Avessa, project by Rita Gaspar Vieira Opening: April 12th | 7 p.m. Exhibition: 13.04 - 31.05.2018 We are thrilled to announce the second solo exhibition by Austrian artist Wolfgang Wirth at Galeria Belo-Galsterer. Inspired by the contemplation of a couple of old etchings of Portuguese fortresses of the 17th Century, the artist developed a new group of formal declinations of these visual structures proposed by the etchings' forms in different media: from drawing to silk screens, sculptures, and in ultimate instance the entire exhibition can be seen as an installation. The fortress as a symbolic model that invites us to participate in a discussion about dichotomies as e.g. infinite vs. finite, cosmos vs. earth, beauty vs. violence, inside vs. outside, inclusion vs. exclusion. Wolfgang Wirth was born 1966 in Innsbruck, Austria. Lives and works in Vienna. He studied at the University of Salzburg, Austria, and is a member of the art group Alpine Gothic. Wolfgang Wirth has realized exhibitions in the international art scene, from Europe (Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, etc.) to the United States of America. This exhibition has the kind support of the Austrian Embassy in Lisbon. _____________________ We are proud to announce that the Portuguese artist Rita Gaspar Vieira will be presenting her work for the first time at Galeria Belo-Galsterer. As in large part of her practice, materials and objects used in her works belong to the domestic sphere of the home, defined as the center of our life and a central space of living together. The same happens in this project, Avessa, a site-specific installation, that finds its inspiration in the gallery space itself - an old apartment and building from the 1940s. An installation forms the central piece of the exhibition project; works in paper complement the central piece and the entire installation - all the pieces together are part of a whole. Rita Gaspar Vieira (Leiria, 1976) Lives and works between Lisbon and Leiria. Rita Gaspar Vieira graduated in Visual Arts – she holds a Bachelor in Painting. She received a Master’s degree in Theories of Art and holds a PhD in Fine Arts with specialization in Drawing. All academic training was undertaken at FBAUL in Lisbon. She began to exhibit in the second half of the 2000s, working mostly with used objects, wood and paper.
