Considered by many as the "lung of Lisbon," the Monsanto Forest Park ,with 1000ha, is the largest green area in the city and is located at 15 minutes, by car, from the center
The tour starts with the visit to the Espaço Monsanto interpretation center. After that we will guide you through the forest trails to enjoy the landscapes, fauna, flora and discover the history of the park that had a great influence in the city development.
The park is an excellent display of the Portuguese fauna and flora. Among the different kinds of Oaks and Pine-trees you can find many species of mushrooms, wild orchids, and other beautiful wild flowers depending on the season of the year.
A true green island in the middle of the concrete, it is the refugee of many wild animals. The birds are everywhere, you can easily spot species like the Great Tit, Black Tit, Blue Tit, Firecrest, Common Finch, Jay, Little Owl, Common Buzzard, etc. With some luck you will also spot Red Squirrels or even a Fox.
This tour is a fantastic experience and a pleasant short break from the concrete, monuments and shops when you visit Lisbon.
