Play, physicality and learning. A workshop exploring perspectives, strategies and reflections in physical play and questions of learning. Over these two days we shall delve into what a more complete education means via a missing piece in our current system: physicality. The workshop should serve as a space for parents/ caregivers / educators ( from now on referred to as elders) to share their stories and so connect and build community while bringing questions around learning to life. On the first day, we will begin our exploration with just elders. Then, the final day will welcome all: elders and kids, to connect, play and share. Have you ever considered these questions? What is learning? What is play? Actually. What is relationship? Why are such questions significant? Is play an internal observation and why is physicality important? What place do emotions have in learning? How can we facilitate a whole education that’s is not fragmented? What is the value of rough and tumble play? We will go through these questions and we shall explore the following aspects: The bubbles of play. Organic learning vs static memorising. Tools, frames and games. Back of the envelope work: scrap paper, chalk and your hands. Consciously mimicking as a means to connect and build relationship etc. The four pillars of the two days: - Set up Meeting our kids and each other - Responsibility Sinking and letting go into the body - Action Seeing and listening with no agenda - Energy Meaning, dialogue and togetherness WHEN: Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd of June. WHERE: Parque Urbano do Jamor NOTE: the material/structure is oriented towards young people ages 8+ and particularly teens who are coming into the intellectual realms.
