10 Hour Theory and practical demonstration class to give a basic understanding of the fundamental concepts of Indian classical music.
Workshop is for professional instrumentalist or singers, as well as amateurs.
We will cover:
-The meaning of Raaga
-Rhythmic cycles .
-How we improvise in Indian music
-Basics of Rasa theory ‘ emotions .
-Indian classical music history and roots
-Demos of Various ragas and practical experiential exercises of emotional sensing . ( played on Bansuri )
-Demos of Rhythmic cycles and some basic participatory exercises.

Jason Kalidas is a British/Irish musician based in Lagos, Portugal. He trained in Indian classical music since 1996. He learned Tabla for a decade in UK and Varanasi India among masters like Ishwal lal Misra and more. Jasons main instrument is Bansuri he studied with Dr Shanish Kumar in Varanasi and Rajendra Prasanna in Delhi. He performs Indian classical music in Europe and India. He began studies on Bansuri and Raaga in Varanasi in 2004. Jason is also a composer for contemporary dance , live electronica and fusion artist
