Exposição Coletiva – Weird Fishes PT O atelier para o artista é um local sagrado e de culto. É aqui que a ideia e a prática artística dão forma à obra de arte. Pedro Piris Serrano e Samuel Ferreira são dois artistas que vivem, estudam e trabalham em Lisboa. Ambos se licenciaram e graduaram como Mestres em Escultura pela Faculdade de Belas-Artes de Lisboa. Hoje é no atelier que as suas atividades artísticas permanecem ligadas. Apesar de distintas, é neste espaço partilhado que elas tomam forma e se tornam ponto de partida para esta exposição. Como dois estranhos peixes que partilham o mesmo aquário. Apropriando-se das diferentes características formais das obras dos dois artistas, os objetos no espaço são ligados entre si através de uma abordagem metafísica, transformando a galeria num local sacrário e a visita à exposição numa experiência ritualista. A ideia da Luz, numa relação tanto objetiva da medida, como de culto inerente à afeção mística, traduz um lugar de conforto, de união, familiaridade e calor. É na luz que procuramos traduzir uma exaltação do corpo, ou a ausência dele, deixando o que sobra. Quer seja pela contemplação, numa ideia orgânica, quer pelo sentimento de estar “perto de casa” ou de abrigo. Ao juntar estes dois trabalhos, quer pelo caráter de crença, afetivo, quer, objetivamente, pelo facto de ser um espaço de união quotidiana, o que pretendemos é tornar este um lugar de culto. João Louro, aquando da visita dos representantes do Whitney Museum a ateliers de artistas portugueses, disse em entrevista ao Público que estes espaços “não são locais de visita, não são showrooms, não são pequenas galerias, são sítios secretos….”, e é com esta ideia que Piris Serrano e Samuel Ferreira transportaram, do seu atelier conjunto, os objetos que nele foram criados. Alga será uma extensão do atelier dos artistas. Será parte desse lugar. Whether through contemplation, an organic idea, or the feeling of being "close to home" or shelter. When combining these two works, either because of the character of belief, affective, or objectively, because it is a space for daily union, what we intend to do is make this a place of worship.
