After 11 original releases and 3 compilations, its founders Frederico Mendes and Ivo Fontão placed their bet on artists with unique visions of the current scene, including Hai, Non Gravity Area, José Acid, Mind Safari, User_145, Tugalife, among others. 1980 is a regular presence at the best Portuguese and London clubs, and has been worthy of attention on radios like NTS Radio, Worldwide FM, RADAR, Antena 3 and Rádio Quântica, in magazines such as The Wire, and platforms such as Boiler Room –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Nave Mãe is the alter ego of Frederico Mendes. Founder of the 1980 label, he is a pioneer who has always been linked to the emergence of various underground movements in Portugal. It houses a sound of its own where it merges house and techno, manifesting mostly by bass lines with accentuated denotation where we can check in the monthly radio program of its label on Radio Quântica as well as the residence that shares with the producer Caroline Lethô and Klipar - "Infâmia". It has also gone through some of the most important clubs and festivals in his country such as Lux Frágil, Gare Porto, MUSICBOX LISBOA and Boom Festival Official. The small radio station that serves as a gateway to the rest of the world via their live stream, inspired me to adapt the concept of my recent research “the fragility of the body and the mental state that depends on it” to the situation and space in which it occurs. In close relation to music and it’s affect on our body the installation takes form by the investigation and interpretation of a ‘portal’".
