O Centro de Linguística da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa convida-vos para a conferência da Professora Natasa Lackovic (Lancaster University) subordinada ao tema “Researching and teaching in social sciences, humanities and across disciplines: from separation to relationality via a multimodal semiotic inquiry”. Abstract: Higher Education across disciplines still functions in dualistic way of separating the material and conceptual/social side of human existence, learning and education. Although technology and knowledge move forward fast, pedagogy and research methods lag behind. I will propose ideas around the new most recent “relational” perspectives on teaching, learning and research via the method and analytical tool I developed termed Inquiry Graphics. The IG argues in favour of inquirying visual and material data rather than just let them act as add-on information visualisation and leave them unquestioned and unexplored. It brings together approaches such as multimodality, semiotic theory of learning (philosophy), socio-materiality, and other approaches that can intersect with these as I’ll show through research questions pursued by researchers and doctoral students who apply the IG (from embodied cognition, threshold concepts to critical theory and new semiotic philosophy of learning).
