MEET THE WINEMAKER #2 - Cabrita Wines (Algarve)
A tradição do vinho Cabrita já remonta a 1977. Foi nesse ano que José André, comerciante de frutas, adquiriu a quinta e produziu uvas tradicionais algarvias como Crato, Manteúdo, Negra-Mole e Castelão, dando origem ao seu vinho “caseiro”, que já na altura era reconhecido pela sua qualidade. Posteriormente o seu filho, José Manuel Cabrita, fica à frente do negócio. Em 2007 nascem os primeiros vinhos destas novas vinhas, Cabrita tinto e rosé, volvidos 11 anos conta já com 8 vinhos diferentes, e explora perto de 14 hectares de vinha numa aposta contínua em castas portuguesas e em particular em castas algarvias, como o Negra Mole ou o Moscatel, gama de vinhos a que chamou de Native Grapes

MEET THE WINEMAKER #2 - Cabrita Wines (Algarve)
The tradition of Cabrita wine dates back to 1977. It was in this year that José André, a fruit merchant, acquired the quinta and produced traditional Algarvian grapes such as Crato, Manteúdo, Negra-Mole and Castelão, giving rise to its "homemade" it was recognized at the time for its quality. Later, his son, José Manuel Cabrita, gets in charge of the business. In 2007 the first wines of these new vineyards, Cabrita tinto and rosé, were born. 11 years after is portofolio has 8 different wines, and explores near 14 hectares of vineyard in a continuous bet on Portuguese grape varieties and in particular on Algarve grape varieties such as Negra Mole or Moscatel, range of wines that he called Native Grapes
