Através de suportes díspares, como pinturas, vídeos e wearable art, e da parceria com Pedro Amaral (Lisboa, 1960) - os Borderlovers -, abre-se um universo eclético, onírico, mas ainda convergente. Todas as obras, reunidas, declaram uma identidade estética. A exposição começa por focar-se em pintura através de uma série de trabalhos intitulada “Strange Paradise”, complementada com paisagens sonoras, os vídeos “Too Stoned to Sleep Productions”, e livros de Bassanti. O segundo núcleo exibe uma linha de couture sauvage inserida no projecto de art wearable “Naked on your lap”, apresentado oficialmente no 59 Rivoli em Paris, decorria o ano de 2010. O nome é uma referência à música Jazz is Paris de Malcolm McLaren “I wear black you wear black/ sat naked on your lap”. O último núcleo expositivo dedica-se à parceria entre Bassanti e Pedro Amaral, os Borderlovers, com uma colecção de pinturas, serigrafias e vídeos, que se expande desde a primeira estreia da dupla, em Junho de 2017 na Shiki Miki Gallery Paris, às mais recentes produções. Through different materials, like paintings, videos, the wearable art, and the partnership with Pedro Amaral (Lisbon, 1960) - the borderlovers - opens up to a eclectic universe, dreamlike, but still convergent. All of them as works, reunited, declare an aesthetic identity. The exhibition gathers three bodies of work which resulted from 7 years of multidisciplinary praxis by Bassanti. In that sense, the first body of work focuses mainly on his paintings, showing publicly for the first time the series Strange Paradise, hereby articulated with sound landscapes, the video series “Too Stoned to Sleep Productions” and diverse artist books. The second body of work takes us to the universe of Wearable Art through the launching of Couture Sauvage, part of the Naked On Your Lap concept, also by Bassanti. Lastly, the third body of work brings us the collaborative project between Bassanti and Pedro Amaral, a.k.a. Border Lovers, consisting of paintings, screen prints and videos, previously exhibited at Shiki Miki Paris in June 2017, now featuring their more recent pieces.
