Laura Bjoke and Marta Soares are coming for a double session on reimbursement and health economics. Dare to join? In this workshop, Laura and Marta will explore the process of health economic assessment of a new medical device, which supports reimbursement in many European countries. What should you include in your clinical trial to support effectiveness? How to assess the health benefit of your product? Do you know Laura and Marta? Laura joined the University of York for economic evaluation and health technology assessment in 1999. She is currently working on the Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Research and Care (CLAHRC) for Yorkshire and Humber as part of the Health Economics and Outcomes Measurement team. The program of work includes the use of economic evaluation across sectors, economic evaluation for local decision makers and the use of routine data for economic evaluation. Laura contributes to a range of short courses ran at CHE and leads the Assessing the Impact of Medical Technologies on Health module as part of the distance learning MSc in Economic Evaluation for Health Technology Assessment. She is also a member of the Research for Patient Benefit panel for Yorkshire and Humber. She holds an MSc in Biostatistics awarded by the University of Lisbon in 2008. Between 2007 and 2009, Marta worked in the Department of Health Sciences (University of York) and previously in a health economics and health outcomes private consultancy company in Portugal (2003-2007). Marta's research interests are related to the development and application of statistical, econometric and decision analysis methods in all components of health technology assessment and value of further research analysis. Marta currently serves as a member of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Technology Appraisal Committee.
