Rui Salgado
Born in Porto, his musical journey begins with the electric bass, while developing its growing interest in Jazz.
Becomes a professional musician at age 21. Joins ESMAE, Porto, in 2003, where he studied Bass, finishing his studies in Leuven, Belgium. He is living and working in Brussels since 2007. Works with the groups Com ~ Tradição, Hizaj, Diab quintet, Maarten decombel trio, as a composer, author and instrumentalist (Double bass, guitar, Bansuri, Voice).
He formed the project “Com ~ Tradição” with Nicole Cangueiro voice – supported by the Embassy of Portugal in Brussels and the Camões Institute – which resulted in the recording of the first CD in March 2014 - “Quando o tempo se quer pousar”. This new project approaches a new repertoire of own compositions arranged with elements of Portuguese and brasilian music – both traditional and more modern harmonic athmospheres.
