Exposição - A tua vez // Your turn

O GABINETE apresenta, pela primeira vez, uma exposição com curadoria de Luiza Teixeira de Freitas e Delfim Sardo.
Trata-se de uma exposição construída como um jogo de cartas: a cada proposta de uma obra, o outro responde com outra, sem explicações.
Começou-se com a última edição produzida pelo GABINETE, duas imagens de Rui Moreira que apresentam, cada uma delas, uma escultura efémera que o artista fixou fotograficamente antes de ser definitivamente destruída. Esta proposta teve uma resposta, depois outra, incluindo obras solicitadas a colecionadores, edições próprias ou obras que existiam no acervo, num jogo sem vitória nem derrota.
As conexões entre as peças foram surgindo a vários níveis: por relações formais, por conexões intelectuais, por ligações afetivas. Nunca foram dadas explicações, mas também nunca foram pedidas – o que quer dizer que a exposição, na sua pequena escala, pode estar recheada de pequenos mal entendidos, neste caso, felizes. 
De facto, trata-se de uma passagem de testemunho: Delfim Sardo afasta-se do GABINETE porque assumiu a programação de artes visuais da Culturgest e será substituído por Luiza Teixeira de Freitas. A exposição A tua vez /Your turn marca este momento de transição que será, também, de renovação do GABINETE, com novos projetos que surgirão no decorrer do próximo ano.

GABINETE presents, for the first time, an exhibition curated by Luiza Teixeira de Freitas and Delfim Sardo.
The exhibition is conceived as a game of cards: every proposition of a work of art is answered with a different one, without any further explanations.
It began with the last editorial production published by GABINETE, two images by Rui Moreira. Each one of them presents an ephemeral sculpture that the artist documented photographically before its absolute destruction. 
Each proposition had an answer, which then receives another answer in return; this includes works on loan from private collections , Gabinete’s Editions, or works that were already part of our project, in a game without wins or losses.
The connections between the pieces began emerging at different levels: through formal relations, intellectual connections, affective liaisons. Explanations were never given, but none were ever asked for to begin with - which means that the exhibition, in its small scale, may be full of misunderstandings, but in this case, joyful ones. Ultimately its purpose is to transmit a statement: Delfim Sardo is distancing himself from GABINETE as a consequence of starting out the visual art programming in Culturgest, and will be substituted by Luiza Teixeira de Freitas. The exhibition A tua vez/Your turn features this transitional moments, that will also be, the renovation of GABINETE, with new projects that will happen throughout next year.
