Palavras escritas em folhas de papel, enviadas para longe, sem certeza de chegada ao seu destinatário. Quem hoje conseguiria comunicar assim? O tempo era outro, mas não distante. A incerteza e o compasso de espera marcam as ligações mantidas por carta. Um suporte que condensa a narrativa da memória e intimidade entre duas pessoas ausentes, são as cartas filmadas e/ou lidas para o espectador, como o destinatário final do cinema epistolar. A carta é a matéria da trama dos dois filmes apresentados neste ciclo, que regasta a fragilidade das relações e o poder da palavra para encurtar distâncias e afetos.

In documentary film format, the director shows the people and cityscape of New York, while voice over letters she received from her mother, from Brussels, while living in the United States.

Words written on sheets of paper, sent far away, with no certainty of reaching the destination. Who could even communicate like that today? That was a different time, but not a distant one. Uncertainty and the waiting marked the connections through letters. Filmed and/or read out to the viewer, as the final recipient of epistolary cinema, the letters are the medium that condenses the memory and intimate narrative between two absent people. So, letters are the subject of the plot of the two films presented in this cycle, which examine the fragility of relationships and the power of words to shorten distances and affections. 
PROSA Cultural Platform seeks to offer a sober and reflective perspective. These cinema screenings represents more than a simple film screening; it is a profound exploration of the human condition, cultural transformations, and artistic resistance amidst significant economic changes. 
Following each session, we invite everyone to participate in post-debates, where we will delve into factual, psychological, and narratological analyses, providing a deeper understanding of the presented narratives.
