Luca Nostro is a guitar player and composer born in Rome Italy, very active both in jazz and contemporary classical music.
 
He recorded four albums, three as a leader, in New York City, with some of the most acclaimed musician of contemporary jazz scene, such as Donny Mc Caslin, Scott Colley, Antonio Sanchez, Mark Turner, Dan Weiss, Tyshawn Sorey, John Escreet, Joe Sanders and he performed in some of the main international clubs and festivals (Small’s in NYC, Casa del Jazz in Rome, Warsaw Summer Jazz Days).
His recordings have been reviewed from important magazines and web magazines like Downbeat, Jazzwise, Musica Jazz, Jazz It, Jazzitalia. His music has been broadcasted, among others, from Radio Tre (Battiti), Radio Vaticana, TVN Warsaw. His last album Are You Ok? published by Jando Music/Via Veneto Jazz received four stars from Downbeat (paper version), and took the second place on itunes jazz italy after its release.
 
As for contemporary classical music, Luca is the first electric guitar of one of the main european ensembles, Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble (PMCE), resident ensemble of Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. With this ensemble, composed by the best italian soloist and conducted by Tonino Battista, Luca performed and premiered some of the most important pieces of classical contemporary music: Yellow Shark by Frank Zappa (produced by Gail Zappa and conducted by Johnathan Stockhammer of Ensemble Modern), 2x5 by Steve Reich (world premiere), The News by Jacob TV (European Premiere) e Secret Rose di Rhys Chatam (European Premiere), K_446 di Michele Tadini (world premiere), and many others, performing in prestigious venues and Festivals such as Biennale Musica in Venice, Ravenna Festival (in 2018 Luca has been the curator of Sing the Body Electric, a review about electric guitar), Ars Musica in Brussells, American Academy in Rome (with Alter Ego), Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari,  Festival di Nuova Musica in Macerata, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome Festival of Villa Adriana receiving excellent reviews for his performances from newspapers (Mario Gamba, Il Manifesto) and web magazines. The composer Mark Grey dedicated his orchestral composition Rainbow Bridge to Luca himself. The piece was premiered in Rome in front of around 10.000 people, produced by Fondazione Musica per Roma and the Municipality of Rome.
 
His solo program for electric guitar, with music by Reich, Romitelli, Lang and compositions written for Luca himself and premiered for the first time in Auditorium Parco della Musica for the festival .in my life, has been performed several times in international venues and festivals.
 
Luca is also a soundesigner and composer for movies, documentaries and theatre He composed and performed the music for King Lear by Shakespeare directed by Giorgio Barberio Corsetti for Teatro Argentina in Rome.

He teaches jazz guitar at Conservatory Toscanini in Ribera (Sicily).
Luca also wrote many articles and a book abut philosophiy of music released by major publishers in Italy (Manifestolibri, Carocci, Il Cannocchiale, Ulisse Alitalia).
