Com a exposição a quatro mãos "Whole Rivers of Light", com os trabalhos de Karishma D'Souza e Le Phi Long, O Gabinete de Madame Thao convida-o a embarcar numa viagem poética através de narrativas ocultas incorporadas em paisagens culturais e a refletir sobre a forma como estas moldaram gerações de pessoas que as habitam.  
A exposição reúne a exploração investigativa de Long sobre a comunidade flutuante de Kampong Luong, no lago Tonle Sap, no Camboja, através de esboços e de um vídeo de uma intervenção no local, e os trabalhos íntimos e metaforicamente vibrantes de Karishma sobre papel e tela, que guardam a memória da família e dos textos, criando um diálogo entre as suas perspectivas distintas. Desdobrando poeticamente histórias colectivas e pessoais, ambos os artistas se envolvem numa conversa que revela camadas intrincadas de significado nas paisagens. 
Karishma D'Souza é uma artista visual de origem indiana de Goa, baseada em Lisboa. 
As suas exposições individuais recentes incluem "Can't See the Forest", Xippas Galerie, Genebra (2023), “Ocean in Another”, Oceans as Archives Conference, Universidade de Amesterdão, Amesterdão (2022), "Invocation", Xippas Galerie, Paris (2020), "Midway mark", Baronian-Xippas Galerie, Bruxelas (2019), e "History Routes", Lisboa Open Studios, Atelier Concorde, Lisboa (2018). As exposições colectivas incluem “Divination livestream/left no written account”, exposição dupla com Zoe Breszny, KAJE, Nova Iorque (2024); "Endless State", Skowhegan Alliance (2020); "Distance", comissariada por Betsy Alwin e Steve Locke, Dorsky Gallery, Nova Iorque (2019); “The Scape and the Scope", comissariado pela Tao Art Gallery, Mumbai (2016), "New Dawn", comissariado por Leidy Churchman, Silberkuppe, Berlim (2014), e "Incredible Travel Experiences", Central Museum (CBK), Drenthe (2014). 
Foi artista residente na Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amesterdão (2012-13) e na Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Maine (2017). Tem um bacharelato em pintura do Goa College of Art e um mestrado em gravura da Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade M.S., Vadodara, Gujarat. 
O seu trabalho faz parte da coleção do Centre National des Artes Plastiques (CNAP), Paris, França; da Chadha Art Collection (KRC), Países Baixos; e do Utrecht Centraal Museum, Países Baixos. 
É uma académica do Governo de Goa (2013), Ministério da Educação, Governo de Goa; foi galardoada com o Prémio Inlaks de Belas Artes 2011 e com as Bolsas Inlaks Take-Off 2012 e 2013. Em 2010, D'Souza foi professora convidada de litografia, para o programa de bacharelato em artes visuais, Departamento de Gravura, Faculdade de Belas Artes, Universidade M.S., Vadodara, e coordenadora da residência "Oficina de Gravura", no Centro de Arte Uttarayan, Jaspur, Vadodara. Em 2015-2017, iniciou e ensinou um programa de educação artística na Escola Primária Don Bosco, Odxel, Goa. 
Le Phi Long (n. 1988, Vietname) licenciou-se em Design de Interiores na Universidade de Belas Artes de Hue em 2012. A sua prática inclui pinturas, instalações site-specific e objectos conceptuais, muitas vezes baseados no seu estudo das origens históricas e geográficas dos seres humanos e dos efeitos das mudanças culturais e da pressão colectiva na formação de uma geração. Desde 2016, Long tem-se concentrado no projeto Dong Duong Lang Du, examinando os arquivos da Indochina Francesa (do final do século XIX ao início do século XX) para aprofundar a questão da transmissão de gerações no Vietname.  
As exposições individuais de Le Phi Long incluem “Leisure”, Vin Gallery, HCMC, 2024 e “Land of Leisure”, Manzi Art Space, Hanói, 2019. Ambas as exposições incluíram obras que são extensões do projeto Dong Duong Lang Du, iniciado em 2016. Le Phi Long também realizou as exposições individuais “All Animals Are Equal #2” na A. Farm Residency, HCMC, 2020 e Manzi Art Space, Hanói, 2020; e “Sac – Sat”, Sao La, HCMC, 2015. O Gabinete de Madame Thao 
Criado em 2021 pela artista franco-vietnamita Sandrine Llouquet, O Gabinete de Madame Thao (OGMT) é um espaço artístico multifacetado que apresenta obras de arte de artistas internacionais e locais. Sendo simultaneamente um projeto comunitário e uma obra de arte completa que examina o lugar da arte e a sua contribuição para a sociedade, OGMT visa tecer uma tapeçaria de ligações e perspectivas através da arte, proporcionando simultaneamente uma plataforma para artistas contemporâneos talentosos. 
Desde maio de 2024, O Gabinete de Madame Thao mudou-se para Campo de Ourique. Esta transição significa um foco renovado no papel do espaço artístico como projeto comunitário e centro de arte. O projeto pretende redefinir as noções tradicionais de consumo de arte, esbatendo as fronteiras entre categorias convencionais como "galeria de arte", "atelier de artista" e "artist run space". Através de exposições e eventos artísticos, palestras e workshops, o OGMT funciona como uma plataforma que liga pessoas de todas as idades e origens - tanto locais como internacionais, visitantes e artistas - através da arte.

With the two-person show "Whole Rivers of Light" featuring the works of Karishma D’Souza and Le Phi Long, O Gabinete de Madame Thao invites you to embark on a poetic journey through hidden narratives embedded in cultural landscapes and reflect on how they have shaped generations of people inhabiting them.  
The exhibition brings together Long’s investigative exploration of the floating community of Kampong Luong on Cambodia's Tonle Sap Lake through sketches and a video of an on-site intervention, and Karishma’s intimate and metaphorically vibrant works on paper and canvas, that are memory-holders of family and texts, creating a dialogue between their distinct perspectives. Poetically unfolding collective and personal stories, both artists engage in a conversation that reveals intricate layers of meaning in landscapes. 
Karishma D’Souza is a visual artist of Goan Indian origin, based in Lisbon.

She was a resident artist at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam (2012-13) and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Maine (2017). She has a bachelor’s degree in painting from the Goa College of Art, and a master’s degree in printmaking from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S.University, Vadodara, Gujarat. 
Her work is in the collection of the Centre National des Artes Plastiques (CNAP), Paris, France; the Chadha Art Collection (KRC), the Netherlands; and the Utrecht Centraal Museum, the Netherlands. 
She is a Goa Government Scholar (2013), Ministry of Education, Government of Goa; was awarded the Inlaks Fine Arts Award 2011, and the Inlaks Take-Off Grants 2012 and 2013. In 2010, D’Souza was a visiting teacher in lithography, for the bachelor’s of visual arts program, Department of Printmaking, Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S.University, Vadodara, and the coordinator of the residency ‘Print workshop’, at the Uttarayan Art Center, Jaspur, Vadodara. In 2015-2017 she began and taught an art education program, at the Don Bosco Primary School, Odxel, Goa. 
Le Phi Long (b. 1988, Vietnam) graduated from the Hue University of Fine Arts in 2012 with a major in Interior Design. His practice includes paintings, site-specific installation and conceptual objects, often based on his study of the historical and geographical origins of humans, and the effects of cultural shifts and collective pressure on the formation of a generation. Since 2016, Long has been focusing on the Dong Duong Lang Du project, examining French Indochina archives (from late 19th to the early 20th century) to dive deeper into the issue of generation transmission in Vietnam.   
Le Phi Long’s solo exhibitions include “Leisure”, Vin Gallery, HCMC, 2024 and “Land of Leisure”, Manzi Art Space, Hanoi, 2019. Both exhibitions included works that are extensions of the Dong Duong Lang Du project that began in 2016. Le Phi Long has also held solo exhibitions “All Animals Are Equal #2” at A. Farm Residency, HCMC, 2020 and Manzi Art Space, Hanoi, 2020; and “Sac – Sa”t, Sao La, HCMC, 2015. O Gabinete de Madame Thao 
Created in 2021 by French-Vietnamese artist Sandrine Llouquet, O Gabinete de Madame Thao (OGMT) is a multi-faceted art space showcasing artworks by international and local artists. As both a community project and a full-fledged artwork examining the place of art and its contribution to society, OGMT aims at weaving a tapestry of connections and perspectives through art while providing a platform for talented contemporary artists. 
Since May 2024, O Gabinete de Madame Thao has relocated to Campo de Ourique. This transition signifies a renewed focus on the art space's role as a community project and art center. The project aims to redefine traditional notions of art consumption by blurring the boundaries between conventional categories such as "art gallery," "artist studio," and "artist-run space." Through exhibitions and artistic events, talks and workshops, OGMT serves as a platform connecting people of all ages, backgrounds, and origins—both local and international, visitors and artists alike—through art.
