🔵 About Milonga d'A Barraca
With its almost 24 years of existence, Milonga d'A Barraca —founded on July 11, 1999— stands out for the promotion of the social and traditional tango, emphasizing the roots of the porteño identity, its music, and the participation in the milonga as the authentic space and context where the essence of tango develops.
The milonga d'A Barraca is hosted by the Teatro Cinearte - Bar A Barraca, an Art Deco building from the 1940s, declared of cultural interest by the Municipal Chamber of Lisbon.
The milonga has two spaces of great beauty.
The main space is made up of a wooden dance floor with a 45m2 of dancing area, a bar with a large counter that offers all kinds of drinks and a stage. The main hall offers 65 seated places and 15 tables.
The second is a beautiful space perfect to talk —in the form of a large corridor with a view — in which 7 tables are distributed, each with two places.
The total area of the Milonga is 95m2 and it has the capacity to accommodate 180 people (XV and XVI Anniversary).
The Milonga d'A Barraca promotes an encounter of feelings between Tango Dance and traditional Fado song. The fado danced from the movements of Tango is an original idea conceived and developed since 1999 by the professional Tango dancer and PhD Researcher, professor Alejandro Laguna, which has been gaining the attention of some of the most renowned musicians and fado singers in Portugal.
