Em Walking, Henry David Thoreau descreve o desafio que os pântanos apresentam para a tarefa topográfica, apresentando-os como territórios exemplarmente “selvagens”, que resistem à dominação humana. No clima mediterrânico, esse lugar é dos matos impenetráveis geralmente dominados pela amora silvestre, a silva. Tudo se tornará um silvado, basta que nos ausentemos. Nesses matos espinhosos encontram refúgio os animais sem lugar na gestão humana do território, habitando as suas periferias e alimentando-se dos seus excedentes. Os roedores e os seus predadores, os javalis e os saca-rabos, uma série de animais não propriamente selvagens, nem certamente domésticos. É pelos espinhos, pelas unhas, pelos dentes, que nos aproximamos deles. Silvestre recolhe vestígios, observa-os, digitaliza-os. Imprime-os em cerâmica e estuda as propriedades sonoras destas novas configurações, habitando-as com frequências e paisagens sonoras recolhidas nos lugares onde foram recolhidos.
In Walking, Henry David Thoreau describes the challenge that swamps present to the topographical task, presenting them as exemplary wild territories resisting human domination. In the Mediterranean climate, this place belongs to the impenetrable bushes usually dominated by the wild blackberry bramble. They seem to threaten to take over the whole territory at the moment of our absence. They serve as refuge to those animals with no place in the human management of the territory, who inhabit the peripheries and feed on our surpluses. Rodents and their predators, wild boars and mongooses, a series of animals that are not exactly wild, nor certainly domestic. It is through the thorns, through the nails, through the teeth, that we will approach them. Silvestre collects traces, observes and digitizes them. We’ll print them on ceramics and study the sound properties of these new configurations, inhabiting them with frequencies and soundscapes recorded in the places where they were collected.
