Workshop: Processing For Android

The goal of this workshop is to introduce participants to android development with Processing.

Processing for Android offers a tool to easily develop applications, live wallpapers, AR and VR apps. All of this is possible without needing to worry about installing SDK files or editing layouts. In this workshop, we intend to provide a short introduction to Android development using Processing. Throughout the workshop, we will explore the use of the Android API to create a set of small applications that read sensor data and use the different types of touch.
Workshop lectured by Luís Gonçalo and Jéssica Parente ( CDV. lab ).
This event will take place in a hybrid format, in the Department of Informatics Engineering of the University of Coimbra (room E4.1) and remotely (in zoom). Due to the current pandemic situation in Portugal, the physical participants must present a valid COVID digital certificate at the entrance of the workshop.

Jéssica Parente holds a master degree in Design and Multimedia from the University of Coimbra. Her increasing interest in typography led her to explore the subject in her master thesis. Currently, she is doing her PhD where her thesis focuses on creating typographic representations that convey aspects of oral communication expressively. She wanted to explore the creative possibilities provided by the relationships between sound, emotions, graphic design and typography.
Luís Gonçalo received his Bachelor degree in Informatics Engineering from the University of Coimbra in 2017. He holds a Master Degree from the same institution where his thesis' subject focused on software testing and security vulnerabilities. Currently, he is starting his PhD in Computer Creativity aligned with Machine Learning. His interests also include Computer Vision and Android Development.
