Nosso velho e querido conhecido, é uma honra recebê-lo mais uma vez. Senhor de várias linguagens musicais, é tarefa difícil conter o frankfurtiano. É que Roman não anda nisto há dois dias, e o desmultiplicar de projectos e tarefas onde está envolvido – ou já esteve – dava para encher várias páginas de texto, mas o objectivo é cativar-vos para a Música e abrir o apetite para esta vinda de um dos principais personagens do universo House e Techno europeus. Por onde começar a falar dele? Podemos ir enumerando os vários nomes sob os quais se encapotou para ir lançando temas atrás de temas que se foram tornando indispensáveis aos mais variados DJs: Roman IV, Alter Ego ou Acid Test (com Jörn Elling Wuttke), Eight Miles High... apenas alguns, tal como dizer que editou na Turbo, Live At Robert Johnson, Playhouse ou Dial é apenas constatar alguns dos selos onde já foi presença. Desde 1996 a editar música e com uma actividade como DJ que engloba consistentemente os melhores clubes e festivais, Roman Flügel é sinónimo de música adulta e que não se verga a estereótipos ou fórmulas de como deve ser feito o quê. Timbres orgânicos entrecortados pelos mais loucos sintetizadores, breakbeats de mão dada com ritmos de pulsar constante, discos que se sucedem e desafiam o ouvinte não só a dançar, mas a sentir, num desfilar de várias décadas e sonoridades e, claro está, com muitas visões para o futuro. Difícil será não comparecer a esta noite de festa convocada pelo próprio, em que cada um de nós também será peça fundamental de uma festa memorável. Chloé Thévenin é uma figuras mais interessantes a sair de França desde a vaga “french touch” dos anos 90 e indispensável DJ para tantos e tantos. Não é uma estreia, é darmo-nos ao prazer de repetir as coisas boas da vida, desta vez sob o repto de Roman Flügel. Compositora e DJ, define-se com um som que vai desde o Techno às explorações mais estranhas na electrónica. Música para filmes e documentários e música para a pista de dança são a sua vida. Com o recente álbum “Endless Revisions” – de onde foi remisturado “The Dawn” por Dixon, provavelmente um dos temas mais ouvidos o ano passado na nossa pista de baixo – propõe-se a unir diversas influências e o resultado foi, sem dúvida, conseguido. Com uma data de edições em selos como a Bpitch Control ou My Favorite Robot e uma residência no lendário Rex Club em Paris, Chloé ainda arranja tempo para ter como ofício principal viajar e mostrar-nos a sua mala de discos – e já são 20 anos a fazê-lo. Cada actuação num sítio diferente é um desafio, diz. Aqui, no Lux, o desafio adivinha-se já mais do que superado. A guest very dear to us, it’s an honour to welcome him back. Mastering various musical languages, it’s hard to pigeonhole the Frankfurt artist. Roman’s been doing this for a long while, and all the projects and tasks he’s involved – or was involved – with could fill up pages and pages of text. However, the objective now is to captivate you to his Music and prepare this coming of one of the key players when it comes to the European House & Techno scene. Where to start talking about him? We could try the various aliases under which he released track after track of indispensable material for the most various DJs: Roman IV, Alter Ego / Acid Test (with Jörn Elling Wuttke), Eight Miles High… those would only be a few, just like saying he released on Turbo, Live At Robert Johnson, Playhouse or Dial is only stating a few labels. Doing it since 1996 and with a DJ activity that constantly includes the world’s best clubs and festivals, Roman Flügel is synonymous with adult dance music that doesn’t restrict itself to stereotypes or formulas on what should be done and how. Organic timbres cut up by the craziest synths, breakbeats going hand in hand with well-behaved kick drums, records which challenge the listener not only to dance but also to feel, in a discourse that encompasses many dacades and styles and, of course, visions for the future. It would be hard not to answer Roman’s own calling for a memorable night out. Chloé It’s not everyday that we welcome in our booth someone who has done a soundtrack for an Alfred Hitchcock movie. Curious? Chloé Thévenin is one of the most interesting figures to come out of France since the 90s’ “French touch” and an indispensable DJ for so, so many. It’s not her debut with us, but it’s a pleasure to welcome her back, this time under the calling of Roman Flugel. Composer and DJ, she defines her sound as going from Techno to weird electronica. Music for films and documentaries and music for the dancefloor are her life. With her recent album “Endless Revisions” – from where Dixon remixed “The Dawn” and achieved one of the most played anthems on our ground floor last year – she set out to bring together various influences and the result was perfect. With plenty of releases on labels such as Bpitch Control or My Favourite Robot and a residency in the legendary Rex Club in Paris, Chloé still finds the time to be a full time touring DJ, bringing her record bag to needy audiences – and she’s been doing it for 20 years.
