Ah, a saudade é tramada. E ao pensar nele bate-nos aquela saudade boa, a de uma noite feliz, em 2012, em que Martin Gretschmann nos entrou pela porta. Guiado pela mão de um jovem Nicholas Jaar, Martin aka Acid Pauli (ou Console, do baptismo musical de ’95) integrou um dos line-ups mais incríveis que uma Green Ray conseguiu somar, juntando, entre outros, Jaar, Pachanga Boys, Panda Bear, Dave Harrington, Tiago e Gisela João. Mas a saudade trata-se. Porque, cinco anos passados, Switchdance trá-lo de volta a casa. Não obstante a formação berlinense, o seu nome e música transportam-nos de imediato para outras latitudes e atmosferas mais exóticas que a capital alemã. Contágios de influência latina e dj-sets prolongados ao infinito, são notas que o aproximam do espectro xamânico que Damian Lazarus preconiza há tanto. De Ricardo Villalobos a Leonard Cohen ou mesmo Bjork, Acid Pauli diz-se simplesmente um apaixonado por música e não aceita a palavra hype nem a forma “carneira” como muitos seguem os rótulos da electrónica. Alternando entre o house e o techno mais negro de Berlim, encontrou a sua expressão como produtor (Console) em bandas sonoras cinematográficas e sonoridades punk que ainda lhe marcam o perfil. Talvez por isso o continuemos a ver, de forma muito clara, como rosto do Bar25 - o histórico clube berlinense encerrado em 2010, onde evoluiu em experimentalismos minimais, acid e deep - e um dos rostos dos The Notwist, a histórica banda indie-rock dos irmãos Acher, já remisturada tanto por Caribou como Four Tet, e à qual Martin doa a veia electrónica. Depois de 15 EPs e um álbum em 2012, lançado precisamente na Clown and Sunset de Nicholas Jaar, regressou ao estúdio e o resultado fez-se ouvir no começo do ano, no longplay “BLD” editado na sua própria label, Ouie, onde regressa ao psicadelismo, num crescendo prolongado e complexo. Promete, por isso, dança: a necessária para matar a saudade e fazer desta mais uma noite memorável. That’s what hits us went thinking of him, because we’re taken right to that happy moment, in 2012, when Martin Gretschmann walked through our door. Brought by the hand of a young Nicholas Jaar, Martin aka Acid Pauli integrated one of the most overwhelming line-ups that a Green Ray event could sum, gathering, among others, Jaar, Pachanga Boys, Panda Bear, Dave Harrington, James and fado singer Gisela João. But the longing is about end. Because, five years later, Switchdance brings him back home. Regardless of his Berlin's formation, his name and music takes us immediately to other latitudes and more exotic atmospheres than those of the German capital. Twists of latin influence and dj-sets extended to infinity are some of the notes that push him closer to the shamanic spectrum that Damian Lazarus has long advocated. From Ricardo Villalobos to Leonard Cohen or even Bjork, Acid Pauli is quite eclectic in his taste and simply puts himself as a music passionate, not accepting the “hype” or the way many follow today’s multiple labels of electronic music. Alternating between house and the darkest Berlin techno, he found his expression has producer (Console) in cinematographic soundtracks and punk sonorities that still define his profile. Perhaps that's why we continue to identify him very clearly as the face of Bar25 - the historic Berlin club shut down in 2010, where he evolved into minimal experimentalism, acid and deep beats - and as one of the faces from The Notwist, the historic german indie rock band already remixed by both Caribou and Four Tet, and to which Martin donates his electronic vein. After 15 EPs and one album in 2012, released precisely in Nicholas Jaar's own Clown and Sunset, he returned to the studio and the result was welcomed at the beginning of the year, in the longplay "BLD", where Acid Pauli returns to psychadelism in a prolonged and complex crescendo.
