Na sua 5ª edição, o Arquiteturas Film Festival 2017, convida o realizador Daniel Kötter para uma Masterclass, onde nos vai falar do seu processo de trabalho. Ao longo da sua carreira, a arquitetura e a cidade têm sido um tema recorrente no trabalho de Kötter, tendo ganho o prémio de Melhor Filme Experimental no Arquiteturas Film Festival 2015. Este ano, o seu filme HASHTI Tehran (2017) será exibido a 15 de Outubro, no Fórum Lisboa.

Daniel Kötter, nascido em Bergisch Gladbach, Alemanha, é realizador e videoartista. O seu trabalho usa, deliberadamente, diferentes suportes e contextos institucionais, combinando técnicas de cinema estruturalista com elementos de documentário e musical experimental, tendo sido exibido em várias galerias, festivais vídeo, salas de concerto e teatros de todo o mundo.

Kötter escolhe projetos que são, normalmente, desenvolvidos ao longo de vários anos, requerendo uma investigação exigente e um conhecimento dos vários suportes disponíveis:

2008-2011: Trilogia vídeo-performance Arbeit und Freizeit [Trabalho e Tempo-livre].

2013-2016: Trilogia Ökonomien des Handelns: KREDIT, RECHT, LIEBE [Economias de Ação: Empréstimo, Justiça, Amor] com o compositor Hannes Seidl.

2009-2015: State-theatre: Lagos/ Teheran/ Berlin/ Detroit/ Beirut/ Mönchengladbach (com Constanze Fischbeck), série de filmes. Trabalho performativo e discursivo sobre as condições urbanas e sócio—políticas da arquitetura de teatro e performatividade.

2013-2014: KATALOG [Catálogo], um filme e trabalho de texto. Filmado em doze países do Mediterrâneo, mostra sítios e práticas relacionadas com a definição de esfera pública. Apresentado na Bienal de Veneza de Arquitetura.

Atualmente, Kötter está a trabalhar com o curador Jochen Becker (metroZones) no projecto CHINAFRIKA: Under Construction. (2014-2018), uma investigação que resultará numa exposição e num filme.

In its 5th edition, Arquiteturas Film Festival 2017 invites director Daniel Kötter for a Masterclass on his work process. Throughout his career, architecture and cities have been a key topic in Kötter’s work, having previously won the prize for Best Experimental Film in Arquiteturas Film Festival, in 2015. This year, his film HASHTI Tehran (2017) will be exhibited on October 15, at Fórum Lisboa.

Daniel Kötter, born in 1975 in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, is a director and video artist, whose work oscillates deliberately between different media and institutional contexts, combining techniques of a structuralist film with documentary elements and experimental music theatre. It has been shown in numerous galleries, video festivals, concert halls, and theatres all over the world. Kötter favours engaging in projects that are developed throughout several years, both demanding substantial research and knowledge of the different available mediums:

2008-2011: Video-performance trilogy Arbeit und Freizeit [Work and Leisure Time].

2013-2016: Trilogy Ökonomien des Handelns: KREDIT, RECHT, LIEBE [Economies of Action: Loan, Justice, Love] along with composer Hannes Seidl.

2009-2015: State-theatre: Lagos/ Teheran/ Berlin/ Detroit/ Beirut/ Mönchengladbach (with Constanze Fischbeck), series of films. Performative and discursive work on urban and socio-political conditions of theatre architecture and performativity.

2013-2014: KATALOG [Catalogue], a film and text work. Shot in twelve countries around the Mediterranean Sea portraying sites and practices related to the definition of the public sphere. Presented at the Venice Biennale for Architecture.

Currently, Kötter is working with curator Jochen Becker (metroZones) on the research, exhibition and film project CHINAFRIKA: Under Construction. (2014-2018).
