The city of Porto is increasingly becoming a consolidated tourism destination. The city that in 2012 was elected by the European Consumers Choice as the Best European Destination 2012 and whose tourism potential is based on its cultural and heritage wealth is a more and more consistent destination. The significant increase in the number of tourists has been contributing to the development and renewal of the city and the entire region of Porto and Northern Portugal, highlighting the Douro Wine Region, home for the wine that still today is one of the biggest attractions of the city and of the Northern Region.
