The fourth edition of MMIFF Festival will again take place at Cine Sol, a wonderful Art Deco cinema nestled atop a cliff. The cinema, which is almost 100 years old with spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean is located in the sleepy, seaside village of Ponta do Sol on the volcanic island of Madeira. The MMiFF is a fantastic festival for creative, international and auteur cinema with an artistic claim. We present fantastic and surreal films from all over the world. The film is shot on very slow 35mm stock normally used for filming title cards, which was cut down to super 8 format. The film is informed by the philosopher Timothy Morton’s idea of “dark ecology” – in which the old ideas of nature as an object of beauty and the privileging of the human is disputed.
