Desde sempre inspirado pela música, Skäta cresceu alimentando-se da sua força motriz. Ainda adolescente aprendeu teclado, guitarra elétrica e gravou um álbum como vocalista principal dos “All Against The World” depois de participar como guitarrista em “July Thirteen”, era a cena hardcore europeia do final dos anos 90. No entanto, o Jungle / Drum and Bass afastou-o desse caminho e quando o DJ se torna profissional, tudo fica estranho, um bom tipo de estranho. Como um dos poucos djs D'n'B portugueses em 1999, Skäta inspira-se nos seus colegas e ao difundir a cultura underground do Reino Unido ajuda a moldar a cena inicial, conquistando activamente novos públicos para o género ao tocar sets com grande impacto na comunidade. O artista é frequentemente descrito como uma máquina de absorver cultura, devorando música e movimentos artísticos, viajando para Crate digging e estímulos culturais. Ele reúne tudo nos decks e no seu álbum com release prevista até o final do ano. Nos últimos 25 anos, Skäta tocou ao lado de alguns dos maiores artistas do género como: Dillinja ; Dj Hype ; Dj Krust ; Moving Fusion ; Benny Page ; DJ A.M.C ; Generation Dub ; Distorted Minds ; Nicky Blackmarket; Future Prophecies ; Calyx ; Temper D ; Clipz ; Instra:Mental , etc. Com um background de inúmeras atuações nas mais emblemáticas salas tais como: Hard Club ; Gare ; LxFactory ; Clube Europa ; Maus Hábitos ; PortoRio ; Cinema de S. Jorge e de gigs internacionais no Psy-fi-festival na Holanda como headliner em 2015 e 2016. conta ainda uma actuação em Berlim no “Lauschangriff” em 2016 para Blasted dnb. Depois de criar um projeto de permacultura e Yoga em Portugal ao qual se dedicou integralmente nos últimos anos, Skäta está agora de volta co uma residência de Bass music na baixa do Porto chamada “Quarta Bass”. ------------------- HI FIDEL CARTEL A incendiar pistas desde 2003, o lendário Hi Fidel Cartel – na sua forma humana – são Bicio, MC Intruzo, R-KD e Ziggi. A sua residência “The Whole Spectrum” no Café 1001 em Londres é uma das mais longas residências da história da capital mudial do d’n’b, rolando continuamente entre 2005 e 2015, reunindo muitos dos maiores talentos do estilo a actuar, tanto nacionais como internacionais. Em 2021, em conjunto com a Norte Color, ano vincado pelas restrições da pandemia, decidiu organizar eventos que fossem de acordo com as normas de então, de forma a poder proporcionar ao público da cidade do Porto e arredores uma alternativa que pudesse satisfazer a ânsia das vibrações mais baixas do espectro sonoro, nasciam assim as: Color Bass Yard. Foi essa vontade de ousar que lhe valeu nesse mesmo ano o convite para fazer parte do coletivo Counterpoint onde encontrou indivíduos com a vontade partilhada de, igualmente, fazer acontecer e, continuamente, acrescentar valor à scene. Reúne um estilo e seleção próprios com influências que não olham a rótulos, tentando sempre levar as pistas, das mais pequenas às maiores, numa viagem sónica, da melancolia à euforia, da luz à escuridão, do breakbeat ao dub, passando pelo minimal, acabando onde quer que a pista assim exija. Conta com passagens por alguns palcos de norte a sul, destacando alguns como: Festival Musa Cascais, Surf at Night, Wipeout Open Air, entre outros, e casas emblemáticas tais como: Hard Club, Gare Club, Porto-Rio, Titanic Sur Mer e mais recentemente o Cross Club na República Checa, meca institucional do drum and bass. Mais recentemente, mantém com o resto do coletivo Counterpoint, residência habitual há já mais de um ano no Era Uma Vez em Paris com as já emblemáticas Counterpoint Sessions, conhecidas certamente pelos entusiastas do movimento da Bass Music no Porto. ---------------------------------------- [EN] SKÄTA Manuel Skäta is a Dj and music producer from Porto. Having been touched by music since ever, Skäta grew feeding from its driving force . As a teenager he learned keys, electric guitar and recorded an album as lead singer in the local/national hero band ”All Against The World” after participating as guitarist in "July Thirteen”, it was the hardcore european scene of the late 90’s . However, Jungle / Drum and bas deviated him from this path, when deejaying turned pro and things got weird, good kind of weird. As one of the few Portuguese D'n'B djs in 1999, Skäta is inspired by his peers and by relaying UK's underground culture he helps to shape the early scene, actively conquering new public to the genre, by playing sets acknowledged with great impact by the community . The artist is often described as a culture absorbing machine, devouring music and art movements, traveling for crate digging and cultural stimuli . He brings it all together on the decks and in his album set to be released by the end of the year. In the past 25 years Skäta has performed along side some of the biggest dnb artists such as: Dillinja ; Dj Hype ; Dj Krust ; Moving Fusion ; Benny Page ; DJ A.M.C ; Generation Dub ; Distorted Minds ; Nicky Blackmarket; Future Prophecies ; Calyx ; Temper D ; Clipz ; Instra:Mental , etc. With a background of numerous gigs at the most iconic PT venues, such as: Hard Club ; Gare ; LxFactory ; Clube Europa ; Maus Hábitos ; PortoRio ; Cinema de S. Jorge and of international gigs in the Psy-fi-festival, Holland as a headliner both in 2015 & 2016 and also in Berlin at the Lauschangriff in 2016 for Blasted dnb. Their resident friday night at Cafe 1001 in London called “The Whole Spectrum”, is one of the longest drum & bass running events of the history of the world capital of d'n'b, spanning between 2005 and 2015, gathering some of the major talent to perform, both national and international. In 2021, together with Norte Color, marked by pandemic restrictions, he decided to organize events that were in accordance with the then regulations, in order to provide the public in and around Porto with an alternative that could satisfy their desire for the lower vibrations of the sound spectrum, thus giving birth to: Color Bass Yard. It was this desire to dare that earned him an invitation that same year to join the Counterpoint collective where he found individuals with a shared desire to also make things happen and continuously add value to the scene. He combines his own style and selection with influences that do not look at labels, always trying to take the dancefloors, from the smallest to the largest, on a sonic journey, from melancholy to euphoria, from light to darkness, from breakbeat to dub, passing through minimal, ending wherever the dancefloor demands. He has played at some stages from north to south, highlighting some such as: Festival Musa Cascais, Surf at Night, Wipeout Open Air, among others, and iconic venues such as: Hard Club, Gare Club, Porto-Rio, Titanic Sur Mer and more recently Cross Club in the Czech Republic, an institutional mecca of drum and bass.
