Vila do Conde is a very particular city. Situated relatively close from Porto (about 20km) offers a very well preserved historical centre that transports us to the medieval times and to the roots of the Portuguese culture and history.
It´s known for its Fishermen community (the most known one in “Cachinas”), for the Bobbin Lace, for its Clarisse Convent, for the famous writers that chose it to live and to find inspiration.
In the sorroundings, in spite of all the progress of the most recent years, there´s still an interesting balance between rurality and urbanisation. Apart from that, Vila do Conde is situated in the rivermouth of the “Ave” River that represents a fundamental element for the entire region.
